Event Title:

Doing Ethnography Remotely

Event Description:

“What is remote ethnography?

In this video series, the Center’s Co-directors Sharika Thiranagama (Anthropology) and Sylvia Yanagisako (Anthropology) interview six ethnographers who have conducted research remotely. The conversations explore a wide range of digital and analog tools, techniques, and methods for use across the disciplines. They focus on past projects and the impact of remote methods on ethnographic research. Each concludes with advice to students who are planning ethnographic research projects in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. These interviews were conducted in May 2020 and have been edited for clarity and length.”
